Discovery Cruises

Explore the wild south on a multi-day cruise.

The remote south-west corner of New Zealand is one of the most isolated and beautiful parts of the planet. Protected by both geography and law, it is a land of dense rainforest, pristine fiords and rare native wildlife.

Real Journeys operates 3 - 7 day Discovery Cruises to Fiordland or Stewart Island. Led by specialist nature guides, the cruises offer a unique opportunity to explore these secluded regions.

Discovery Cruises have a flexible itinerary, enabling you to venture ashore with the nature guide and explore various sites of natural and historical interest. You can also use the vessel’s kayaks and small boat to explore sheltered inlets.

Passenger numbers are limited to 32 and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed.

Discovery Cruise highlights:

Cruising along magnificent and remote coastlines
Wildlife viewing including possible encounters with dolphins, penguins,
seals and sea birds
Visiting historic sites and abandoned settlements
Guided walks through rainforest and along beautiful deserted shorelines
Kayaking and tender craft (small boat) cruising in sheltered waters
Informative commentaries and evening talks by the onboard nature guides
